Event Details

The Product Owner role one of the most problematic areas when using Scrum.

It can also be the most powerful role.

Learn the most common problems, and solutions, with the Product Owner role, including:

- How to get alignment with stakeholders

- How to communicate effectively with teams

- What motivates team members and how to leverage Scrum to increase motivation

- How to break your project down into small, meaningful, sprint-able pieces

- Several ways to prioritize your backlog

As course instructor, I'm a Product Owner myself. I also have over ten years of experience with Product Owners that include products such as a website with 1 million page views daily, products competing with Amazon and Microsoft, greenfield projects with new technology, regulated environments, scaling product development across over a dozen teams in multiple states and countries and much more.

Our courses are taught interactively. This short video describes how and why my workshops are different from others.

This Certified Scrum Product Owner training is personal, interactive and high energy. No death by PowerPoint. You will learn the way people learn best - via teamwork, discussion, interaction, and exercises. Class feedback averages over 9.5.

Questions you'll have answered at Rocket Nine Solutions' Certified Scrum Product Owner training.

"How do I write good user stories?"

"How do I break down my 2 month feature into two week chunks?"

"How do I prioritize which is most important of my dozens of requests?"

"What are the daily tasks and responsibilities of the Product Owner?"

From class participants:

"Exercises and group activities are well designed to strengthen memory of the key knowledge point. And retrospective after the activity is effective."

"Kept the class very engaging and on schedule. Exercises were fun, engaging and educational..."

This two-day Certified Scrum Product Owner training provides everything you need to get started as the business point person using Scrum with a team. You may be a product manager, project manager, business analyst or other subject matter expert (SME), but no matter the role, you know you are the voice of the customer - the one specifying what team should build, the vision, roadmap and priorities for the team and deciding on the feature, cost, and quality tradeoffs. Scrum will enable the business to see working demo's every one to four weeks, as well as empower frequent releases to production and draw the team closer to the business value goals of the product itself.

The largest and fastest-growing Agile project management methodology, Scrum is a simple framework that has a small set of interrelated practices and rules, is not overly prescriptive and enables more effective teams almost immediately.

Our Certified Scrum Product Owner training shares industry-tested practices for evolving Product Backlogs, planning your Releases and Sprints, tracking and reporting progress, and developing continuous improvement cycles. Participants will learn the how and why of Scrum and agile, how to effectively participate in the Sprint Planning Meetings, Demo/Reviews, Retrospectives, the 15-minute daily stand-up, and more. You'll get some tools to help collaboratively prioritize features with the team, as well as some insights from Lean Start-up on how to leverage the build-measure-learn cycle, book-ending these features and ideas with your hypothesis and results-measurement.

Previous attendees:
  • "Just wanted to say thanks again for running this 2 day class.  I will definitely recommend to some of my colleagues.  :-) "
  • "Great course to take me from very basic Scrum knowledge to confidence that I can implement on my own."

Upon completion of the Certified Scrum Product Owner training, participants are registered as Certified Scrum Product Owners. Registration includes a two-year membership in the Scrum Alliance, (, which has a wealth of Scrum and agile material and community information available.

Besides Scrum education, this course has a bigger purpose of changing the world, and connecting and inspiring others to do the same. A portion of class proceeds will be donated to a charity highlighted during the class.

Rocket Nine Solutions has coaches based in Nashville and Orange County, California. For private certified or agile overview training, assessments, or management or team building workshops, please contact us.
