Event Details

This two-day course provides the fundamental principles and practices of Scrum. It gives participants hands-on experience using Scrum and puts theory into action through a variety of interactive and intensive exercises. We have structured this course to ensure that participants leave with practical skills which can be immediately applied to improve their work.

Through this course, participants will gain practical experience working with Scrum tools such as the Product Backlog, the Sprint Backlog, Taskboards and Burndown graphs. Participant will also work thought the full Scrum cycle and learn about Scrum activities including the Sprint Planning meeting, the Daily Scrum meetings, the Sprint Review meeting and finally the Retrospective.

Following successful completion of the course, you will be qualified and ready to pass the Scrum Alliance assessment exam. This multiple-choice, online test is required to become a Certified ScrumMaster, which includes a one-year membership in the Scrum Alliance, where additional ScrumMaster-only material and information are available.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is this course guaranteed to run? What is the likelihood of the course being cancelled?

All my courses are guaranteed to run, and I don’t cancel courses as a rule because I believe it’s bad business practices. The only reason I would consider canceling a course would be for natural disasters such as flooding, fire and earthquakes. It’s technical possible that I might cancel a course, but it’s very, very unlikely.

2.  How do I request and invoice?

You can sign up for the course and request and invoice at the same time by clicking the "Other Payment Options" link under the "Order Now" button. I've attached a screenshot below which shows the link I'm referring to ...

Other payment options

Clicking on this link will allow you to register of the course and will prompt me to manually create an invoice which I'll send through in a few days.

3. Is the Certification exam included as part of the course fee?

Yes, the examination fee is included as part of the course fee. Also included is a workbook, a working lunch and refreshments for morning tea and afternoon tea.

4. What is involved in the online exam?

The certification exam is an hour long exam that consists of 35 multiple choice questions of which you need to get 24 correct in order to pass (so the pass mark is 24/35). It is done online, which means that you can do it from home or from the office.

5. When can I do the exam?

I will submit all participant details to the Scrum Alliance on the afternoon of day two, while they are doing an exercise. It usually takes me about 20 minutes to clear the administration and paper work, and shortly after this you should have the ability to sit the online exam.

You should have and email from the Scrum Alliance that will allow you to sit the online exam before the end of the course.

6. Do you have sample questions for the exam?

I would encourage you to do the exam as soon as you can after the course, and not waste your time with sample questions.

My course is designed to prepare you for Scrum in the real world … which is often more difficult and challenging then the online exam. There is a high correlation of sitting the exam immediately after the course and successfully passing the exam.

7. What are the course start and end times? What is the course agenda?

The course starts at 9am and finishes at 5:30pm on both days. I aim to finish before 5:30pm, but it depends upon the questions that are asked throughout the day. If you wish to make plans based on the end time, then I’d recommend you plan on a 5:30pm finish … although we should finish before that.

Finally, here is the agenda (as a pdf file) of the topics that will be covered in the two day CSM course.
