Description

Certification 101 is a workshop designed to give small minority and women business owners an opportunity to learn more about the various types of certifications used for local government contracts.

Business Development Counselors will discuss Minority-Owned and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE/WBE) Certifications and how small businesses can use them as a marketing tool if they are interested in bidding on City, Federal and state funded contracts. We will also discuss Federally-funded Transportation Certifications such as Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE & ACDBE) these certifications are used by Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA), Cap Metro and TxDOT.

We will also hear from Vendor Connection as they talk about how important it is to select the correct commodity codes when registering on the City's database.

We will also hear from our Capital Contracting Office. They will share tips about the most common mistakes when bidding for contracts.
