About this event

Join us in the atmospheric Honan Chapel for a beautiful night of music to ring-in the festive season. With special guests, Jim Murray and Danny Collins.

Jim Murray is one of Ireland’s leading guitar players. His formidable reputation has been established as a player of traditional music - both as a melody player and as an accompanist. Jim has been credited for bringing traditional Irish guitar accompaniment to the “now” by combining a wide range of musical influences whilst remaining sympathetic to the tradition.

For over twenty five years Jim has toured and recorded both nationally and internationally with musicians including Sharon Shannon, Altan, Mike McGoldrick, Dezi Donnelly, Steve Earle, Jerry Douglas, Alan Kelly, Dermot Byrne, PhilCunningham, Mary Black, Sinead O’ Connor, Donal Lunny, Padraig Rynne, Tara Breen, Fiona Kelleher, Iarla Ó Lionáird and the RTÉ National Concert Orchestra.

He also released two critically acclaimed albums with long term partner Seamus Begley in 2001 and 2008 which collectively scooped many prestigious awards such as The Irish Times and Hotpress Traditional Irish Music Album of the Year. Jim also has a wealth of teaching experience having taught masterclasses around the world.

Jim continues to teach, tour and compose whilst living in West Cork with his family.

Danny Collins is a multi-instrumentalist from Rosscarbery in West Cork. He started playing at the age of seven and has been highly involved in the Traditional music circuit since. Danny studied a BA in Irish Music and Dance at the University of Limerick, where he achieved afirst class honours.

He has toured extensively with music shows and dance shows alike, performing on both national and international stages. Danny has numerous All Ireland medals to his name on a variety of instruments and was most recently a member of the All Ireland winning Céilí band, "Taobh na Mara". He has toured with the renowned trad group "Goitse" and is now a well sought after performer and teacher.

Doors Open at 7. Free admission, donations accepted on the night.
