Tucson Young Professionals holds monthly CEO Roundtable events as an avenue of professional development for our members.
We ask our featured speaker to candidly speak for 30-35 minutes about their story of successes, pitfalls and laughs on their journey to becoming a successful leader. The atmosphere is casual and conversational.
About Ed Mercurio-Sakwa:
Ed Mercurio-Sakwa is the CEO of Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending domestic violence through intervention and prevention efforts. Ed has been with Emerge! since 2008, and prior to becoming CEO in April 2013, he served as the agency’s Director of Program Operations and then Chief Operating Officer.
Ed is a graduate of Cholla High School and the University of Arizona in Tucson, and earned his Master of Business Administration at James Madison University. He began his work in human services more than 20 years ago, including serving as the Executive Director for domestic violence programs in Virginia and New Mexico, and has continued to work in the nonprofit sector throughout his career. Ed joined the Tucson nonprofit community in 1997, and immediately prior to joining Emerge! was the Program Director at Every Voice in Action Foundation (a private foundation promoting youth activism/leadership).
Ed is married with two teenage boys and coached youth basketball at the YMCA for eight years.
