Martin Lindqvist is the President & CEO of SSAB AB, a leading producer of high strength steel. With production plants in both Sweden and the U.S., the company has a capacity of 6 million tons for crude steel. SSAB employs approximately 9,000 people in 45 countries, and in 2011 its sales amounted to close to SEK 44 billion.
Joining SSAB in 1998, Martin Lindqvist had by the time of his appointment to CEO held several positions in various functions of its operations. Amongst others, he has been CFO, EVP in the Strip Products Division, as well as EVP of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Thus, he gained a firm knowledge of SSAB from numerous sides of the business.
Graduating from Uppsala University in 1988 with an MSc in Business Administration, Lindqvist's first employer was Outokump. He there served as the Cheif Accountant, before moving on to an eight year long stint with NCC prior to joining SSAB. Lindqvist is the Chairman of Jernkontoret, and board member of Indutrade, the World Steel Association, and The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
