About this event
Join us December 10th, 2022, for the Team Freedom Murph Challenge!
“Murph” is a Hero WOD (Workout of the day) named after Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan on June 28, 2009, at the age of 29. Lt Murphy, of Patchogue, N.Y, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor after his death.
Many CrossFit affiliated gyms, military members, veterans, and civilians participate in the “Murph” every year to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for this great nation.
This annual fundraiser supports Patriots Hall of Dripping Springs whose mission is "to create a permanent retreat and resource base for Veterans of all ages and military branches to connect and find support.”
The MURPH challenge will consist of a mile run, followed by 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, followed by another mile run all while wearing a 20 lb weight vest or body armor.
While typically done on Memorial Day as individuals, the Team Freedom Murph is a bit different; we believe in honoring the fallen by helping living veterans. We also believe in the power of teamwork, motivation and camaraderie; as such, each team must consist of at least 5 members. Final completion time will be based on all members successfully completing the Murph.
All participants will shirts and hats, and awards will be given to the fastest team in each heat.
