About this event

The CAZCA Greenprint is a natural infrastructure viewer that we designed to assist decision-makers, researchers, and members of the public in visualizing and planning around the natural resources of our county. CAZCA collaborated with Arizona Game and Fish, the Nature Conservancy, and the Trust for Public Land to create the Greenprint. Throughout this process there has been a focus on providing data to support decisions that protect water resources, ensure habitat integrity, and mitigate heat risk through nature-based solutions, among several other tools, and many layers of contextual data.

The Central Arizona Conservation Alliance (or CAZCA) was started in 2012 by Dr. Kim McCue of Desert Botanical Garden. Her vision was to create an organization that would support the joint efforts of the many people working to protect and care for the desert landscape of Maricopa County. Since then, CAZCA facilitated the creation of the Regional Open Space Strategy (ROSS) for Maricopa County, which represents a shared vision for the steps necessary to create a sustainable, biodiverse landscape for future generations. Now, we work to support the implementation of the ROSS and to coordinate collaboration and collective conservation action throughout Maricopa.
