Event description

Description

The Center for Ethics and Leadership invites current students, faculty, staff, alumni, guests, and friends to participate in a deliberative dialogue of criminal justice, how our communities are policed, and how that might be changed or even improved.

Deliberative dialogues are civil face-to-face discussions of different public policies where participants admits the pros and cons of their positions. In this dialogue, we will discuss three ways to reduce violence in our communities: viz., enforce the law together with more community policing, apply the law more fairly to reform inequities, and de-escalate and prevent violence to disrupt conflict. We hope to reach a consensus about policies we might support and then convey our views to Congressman Lloyd Doggett's office to inform future legal reform.

Lunch (with vegetarian options) will be provided with a RSVP. Seats fill quickly, so register soon! Although the event lasts from 11:30am-1:30pm, it's fine if your schedule only allows you to participate for a limited time.
