Event description

Description

CelloJoe and Ramuun are playing an intimate show at The Center SF.
Both acts will do a feature set of original material as well as a freestyle collab set.

CelloJoe
Joey Chang aka CelloJoe is an anomaly in the world of cellists.
Cello + beatboxing + vocals + live looping = Cello Joe

Cello Joe plays the cello while beatboxing, looping, and singing. It's Classical Hip Hop. He creates fat beats with a cello and his mouth and he does it live!
His lyrics weave together sustainability, environmental justice, and social awareness. They entertain, inspire, and make you wonder.

By beatboxing, throatsinging, singing, plucking and bowing the cello, CelloJoe can mimic many styles of music from dubstep to folk to rock to classical to hip hop.

CelloJoe is the world's first long distance musical bike touring cellist.
He has ridden his bike over 10,000 miles in the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Australia.
Ramuun
RAMUUN, a musical duo with unique Hip Hop/fusion power from the future, consists of Luna Zaka and Narayan from Zion. Their story unfolds like a super hero graphic novel epic; each step of their life long journey into musical harmony is laden with sonic synchronistic gems. Renowned music producer/artist Jackson Whalan says. “RAMUUN is the next woman-and-man music duo to be discovered, and it’s going to be massive. Here we have Lithuanian vocalist/composer/writer/pianist Luna Zaka, and the uber-funky Californian producer, MC, and visual artist, Narayan from Zion, currently based in Sonoma County, CA.”

RAMUUN is currently putting the finishing touches on Verbal Hyposis, their first video and album. After over a year and a half in the studio with more than 20 songs in the making, they have created a very unique and definitive style both in music and branding. Their new 12 song album is paradigm shifting. Producer/artist Whalen goes on to say, “Sonically, just imagine if Die Antwoord was from California and was stirred into a cauldron with Erykah Badu, Hiatus Kaiyote, and Norah Jones, with seasonings of a unique stand-out rap-voice, as recognizable as Cypress Hill, The Beastie Boys, or other such legends whose voices can be clearly distinguished. And yet, these references do no justice in describing how RAMUUN actually sounds. You just have to listen. It’s like what you might hear on another planet.”

Luna Zaka from Lithuania, trained pianist, former star on the musician-focused European Reality show The Sky 2, is an utterly unique vocalist, creating sounds that range from a gutteral growling, similar to Tuvan Throat singing, to the perfect melodic integrity and harmonic precision of jazz. Narayan from Zion, multi-instrumentalist, singer/MC, has dedicated himself since age 12 to the rigorous study of music. After several years studying jazz on clarinet and piano, more than a decade of practice as a percussionist, and over 20 years as a dynamic hip-hop MC, becoming a music producer in 2003 was a natural transition. Having engineered and produced numerous albums of his own and other artists, Narayan now joins with Luna to focus their talents in the creation, production and performance of the vision and sounds of RAMUUN.

Fans are already raving: “These kindred spirits bring IT into our realm, ancient future gifts to the present”; “Delicious, amethyst wizards of vibrational cosmic rhythms and momentum”; Urging you to “sincerely witness these dynamic life poets.” The genius quality of RAMUUN is self-evident. Beginning this summer with their first single “California Dream”, being released May 12, you can tune in yourself to discover formerly unexplored realms and surprising and enhanced dimensions of revelatory music.
