The 6 Suites for Solo Cello by J. S. Bach are some of the most iconic works in the entire cello literature. They are enjoyed by music lovers around the world for their tremendous emotional depth, which is created by the simplest of means, a single unaccompanied cello. Along with the works for solo violin, these Suites display some of Bach's most subtle and refined compositional skills, particularly his ability to create the feeling of multiple parts sounding together, even when only a single line of music from one instrument is being played.

On Monday evening October 29, noted Bay Area cellist Thomas Shoebotham will perform the first three Suites in a recital at Quent Cordair Fine Art in downtown Napa at 7pm. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. In order to ensure optimal seating, only 50 tickets will be sold. The performance will last approximately 2 hours.
