Abdullah Shtnawei, MD.
Abdullah Shtnawei graduated from Jordan University of Science and Technology Irbid, Jordan, Jordan and was appointed in 2008.
He has won awards for his research in home care nutrition and has several published articles on digestive health issues. He married and likes to read, watch movies and play soccer in his spare time.
Rebecca Black is one of the leading health and fitness experts in the Midwest. Rebecca has an amazing story of self-transformation, where she went from 30 pounds overweight to placing in fitness competitions. In January 2012, Rebecca was diagnosed with celiac disease and it completely changed her life. With her blog “Pretty Little Celiac.”, Rebecca is sharing her life story of struggles associated with 17 years of undiagnosed celiac disease.
Rebecca is an accredited Certified Personal Trainer from the American College of Sports Medicine (ASCM). Rebecca earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Masters in Non-Profit Management from Regis University. Rebecca opened the doors to Bexa Body Fitness in January 2012, which culminated her vision of creating a fitness studio that was personal and customized training studio offering premium services to all fitness levels.
Emily Kaufman learned the hard way that sometimes information about gluten is just as hard to digest as the protein itself! Unexpected diagnosed with celiac disease years ago she’s been busy learning about all things gluten-free – and then decoding that knowledge to share with others. Currently Emily manages North American sales and distribution of the GlutenTox line of gluten detection kits from Emport, LLC’s offices in Pittsburgh, PA. She is also a sometimes-blogger for sites like Triumph Dining and Adventures of a Gluten-Free Mom. If Emily isn’t busy chatting with gluten-free people, food manufacturers, and kitchens about the weird world of gluten detection, she’s probably off somewhere fixing herself a gluten-free snack.
Chef Jean-René Renusson literally grew up in the kitchen, even taking his first steps in the kitchen of the Ritz Carlton in Chicago. His father, world renowned pastry chef, Gilles Renusson had been head pastry chef there. It wasn’t long before Jean-René was off to Austria to apprentice at a pastry shop and then to a patisserie in Grand Rapids. You could say culinary arts is in his blood. He has since worked at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, and is now working for Savory Foods as a gluten-free and vegan chef. As a vegan, he has submerged himself in perfecting recipes that not only taste mouth-watering, but also are gluten-free and some vegan as well.
Chef Peter Klarman from Chef of the Future will have your mouth watering as he cooks up a storm on stage! His book, "Better Food for a Better You," will be out this spring! While overcoming some personal health issues, Peter began learning about more food and nutrition and how to use basic foundational health principles to his recipes. Since completing a culinary training program four years ago, he has worked in various restaurants in Louisville, Kentucky and in the food service kitchens of Wild Oats and Whole Foods Markets. In addition, he has been a personal chef for people with various health concerns and presented several food demonstrations. Having tried different approaches to food, he realizes the importance of empowering himself and others about making better and it’s your responsibility to keep it healthy. Afterall, who else has to live in it but you?
Chef Anna’s dreams of a culinary future began at age 6 while following her father around his local restaurant The London Bar and Grill; on public square. Later in 1992, Anna began her studies at Cleveland State University. While at Cleveland State University Anna began to feed her interest in the industry by waitressing in her fathers restaurant, The London Bar and Grill; on public square.
While ﬁnishing her studies Anna began managing the Mardi Gras Deli in downtown Cleveland. After only 1 year of managing the deli, Anna purchased the Deli from her then boss, Nick Mavarakis. Anna owned the deli from 1994-2000 before moving across the street to the IMG building to take on a new venture. Since 2009 Anna has practiced a RAW lifestyle, including uncooked meats and many sprouted greens. Anna is passionate about a RAW lifestyle, not just a meal.
Anna opened Good To Go Cafe in 2001. Good To Go Cafe would mark the inception of Anna’s fresh lifestyle concept. Good To Go Cafe thrives on local and organic food, continuously catering to many health conscious businesses in the Greater Cleveland area. Listing the cities highest preforming athlete's such as LeBron James and The Cleveland Indians, Chef Anna maintains nutritious food and longevity as her company’s standard.
Anna Harouvis is well known for creating a visual masterpiece through her cooking. Anna’s focus on RAW ingredients coupled with a true organic, clean cooking has taken her audiences through a culinary journey. Anna’s eclectic style has landed her spots on a variety of major networks showcasing her culinary creations, (including Good Company, Cleveland magazine, Live Well magazine).
Trisha Lyons is a registered dietitian at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. Since her diagnosis 12 years ago, she has studied celiac disease & the gluten-free diet extensively. Trisha has been involved with the Celiac Disease Foundation: Northeast Ohio Chapter since 2000 and has spoken to the medical & celiac disease communities on numerous occasions. Her long time passion has been to raise awareness of this widely underdiagnosed disease through her involvement in local events, fundraisers, and media interviews. She has peer- reviewed and authored several celiac disease publications. Trisha?s counseling practice is limited to the celiac disease & gluten intolerance populations and she has counseled several hundred patients requiring a gluten-free diet from all over Northeast Ohio.
Rob Pekare is a 2008 graduate of the University of Akron with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. Rob has been a Registered and Licensed Dietitian since completing his dietetic internship at MetroHealth hospital in 2009. Rob’s interest and passion for helping others lead a happy, healthy, gluten-free lifestyle began when his younger sister was diagnosed with celiac disease. In 2007, he was diagnosed with celiac disease as well. Since then, he has made it his mission to educate himself on the disease in hopes of not only helping his immediate family members with the disease, but helping others in the community who have been recently diagnosed. Rob’s interests include watching and playing soccer, hiking, and biking. In addition, Rob is an avid runner with ultra-marathoning experience. He has completed many long distance races including marathons, 50ks, 50 mile races and 100ks. Robert will be lecturing along with Trisha Lyons and Brenda Shapario.
The Gluten-Free Awareness Tour promotes celiac disease awareness and gluten-free food and beverage products.
Each stop on the Gluten-Free Awareness Tour features presentations by celiac disease experts and gluten-free food and beverage exhibits from local and national gluten-free food and beverage manufacturers.
In 2013 over 100 gluten-free manufacturers exhibited and thousands of gluten-free consumers attended the events in cities across the country, including Detroit, Pittsburgh, Houston, San Diego and San Francisco.
