On December 6, 1979, the then Governor James R. Thompson signed into law the Illinois Human Rights Act (Act), creating the most expansive civil rights coverage for the people of Illinois in the history of the State! On December 10, 2019, please join the Illinois Department of Human Rights for a Celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Illinois Human Rights Act, honoring Former State Representative Barbara Flynn-Currie. You'll have the chance to hear from several state leaders, including past directors of the Illinois Department of Human Rights, and many more. A reception will follow.
