Description

The Henry Miller Memorial Library and the Lab are proud to present...

A Celebration of Robert Burns with Taelen Thomas and Laura Burian!

Poetical showman Taelen Thomas (below) will dramatize the wild and passionate life of the great Scottish bard, Robert Burns, in commemoration of Burns's 259th birthday.

This lively show will present the stories behind such classics as AULD LANG SYNE, TAM O'SHANTER, and TO A LOUSE.

The show features the favorite fiddle music of Robert Burns, performed by accomplished violinist Laura Burian, of "Heartstrings" of Monterey.

In addition to writing his own, often thrilling, funny, heartbreaking and revolutionary poetry and songs, Burns collected and preserved over 200 traditional Scottish songs, many of which found their way to America, especially to Appalachia, where Laura learned to play them on the fiddle, Burns's own instrument of choice.

This performance will take place on Thursday, January 25th at the Lab in Carmel.

The Lab is located at 3728 The Barnyard, Suite G-23, just above Carmel Valley Roasters.

Doors at 7, performance at 7:30 pm. Tickets $15.

Appropriate, adult-oriented beverages will be available.
