Description

"Born Digital: How Children Grow Up in a Digital Age"

Building off more than a decade of research about the lives of a generation “born digital,” the gathering will feature a conversation with the authors and the research team, together with students, parents, and teachers. Focal points will include the creative dimensions of young people's lives, as multifaceted learners, civic leaders, innovative entrepreneurs, and playful creators. The event will also spotlight the challenges that young people encounter as they navigate ubiquitous information and learn how to safeguard their privacy. All participants, including parents, teachers, coaches, and young people themselves, will offer their ideas about shaping social and educational environments that are responsive to both the opportunities and challenges afforded by the digital age. They will also consider how to strengthen technology platforms that encourage safe, inclusive, and transparent use of personal data.

Please note that this event is open to the public but does require registration through this page. The workshop and discussion will take place 6:30-7:30 p.m. in Kemper Auditorium and will be followed by a reception in the Underwood Room.

We hope you will join us!
