"Celebrating Sadie Grimm" Motorcycle Ride and Celebration
Sun, June 11, 2017, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM CDT
"Celebrating Sadie Grimm" Motorcycle Ride kicks off the celebration of Sadie Grimm making history as the winner of the Manitoba Motorcycle Club Gold Medal and the first rider to reach Winnipeg Beach in 1914. All motorcyclists and their supporters are welcome to participate in the ride and/or the celebration with motorcycle ride commencing between 10 and 11 AM at Indian Motorcycle of Winnipeg (Headingley Sport Shop), 5160 Portage Ave. The actual motorcycle ride will tour through Saint Francois Xavier, Marquette, Stonewall, Balmoral, Teulon, Inwood, Fraserwood ending in Winnipeg Beach at 3 PM with celebration at the bandstand. The Town of Winnipeg Beach is hosting us by providing use of the bandstand, motorcycle parking on the main street and a live band.
All proceeds will be directed to erecting a permanent memorial to Sadie Grimm's milestone victory. A covered picnic area and a metal Motorcycle sculpture are proposed and work has begun on making both happen. Both are to be erected near the spot where the majestic Empress Hotel stood on Winnipeg Beach when, in 1914, Sadie Grimm rode to and was presented with her gold metal.
$20.00 - price of advance registration for each rider, passenger or supporter.
$25.00 - price for in person registration on June 11.
The first 50 women who register on line will be presented with a special token of "Celebrating Sadie Grimm".
Anyone who cannot make the ride can still participate in this celebration by registering and joining us at 3 PM at the bandstand in Winnipeg Beach. You can also choose to donate on the eventbrite.ca site.
