This program features performances of dances spectacularly choreographed by the renowned Dominican scholar, educator, and performer Maestro Iván Domínguez and his Conjunto Folclórico, whose repertoire includes more than 50 dances from the Afro-Dominican and colonial Spanish traditions such as merengue, bachata, vals, and the mangulina.
Mr. Domínguez and his ensemble will be accompanied by The Camerata Washington Heights under the direction of Adán Vasquez. The music featured will be by Dominican composers Julio Alberto Hernández, Nicolás Guillén-Juan, Francisco (Pancho) García, Luis Frias Sandoval, Alejandro Martínez and others.
The concert is open to the public free of charge thanks to generous support from the office of Honorable Ydanis Rodriguez, Member of the New York City Council. The series is co-sponsored by the President's office of City College of New York.

Association of Dominican Classical Artists, Inc.
Founded in 1980 by pianist and music educator Tilsia Brens in New York City, the Association of Dominican Classical Artists (ADCA) has as its mission to: foster appreciation in the United States for the art and folkloric music of the Dominican Republic; create performance space for its artist members; bring live performances and music education to communities with little or no access to both. We advance our mission by presenting concerts and educational programs.
ADCA is a 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions for the charitable purposes of ADCA must be made payable to Association of Dominican Classical Artists only and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
