Event description
A USC Gallery Viewing and Reception at the California African American Museum

About this Event

Youth artists explore“Taking a Stand,” developing artworks that explore social justice issues they are passionate about. They are guided by LA-based artist, BIJAN MACHEN, lead artist on this project. The collective vision of the project is unveiled in a series of commemorative prints based off their art works.

Open to the USC Community and the public, this project is made possible in partnership with the Center for Black Cultural and Student Affairs (CBCSA) and nonprofit arts partner, LA Commons.

Reception is followed by the 7 PM Premiere of RACE/RELAY, a multimedia production about race relations. Combining recollections of real personal experiences and projected images from various media, writer-director Denise Hamilton, movement specialist Fred Sugerman, master percussionist Christo Pellani, and a cast of actors will create a dynamic performance based on stories from the USC community.
