Description

Join Boston Mobilization staff, community members, youth, alumni and friends to celebrate four decades of Boston Mobilization!

2017 marks the 40th Anniversary of Boston Mobilization and you are invited to celebrate this impressive milestone with us on Thursday, November 30 at the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building from 5:30-7:30pm! We will have a reception celebration to commemorate the remarkable accomplishments of Boston Mobe throughout these four decades. During the reception, we will ask for donations to continue doing the inspiring work of developing youth leaders for social justice.

We will also be welcoming Myriam Ortiz as the new Executive Director of Boston Mobilization, and celebrating the new affiliation agreement between The City School and Boston Mobilization!

Despite all the despair accompanying 2017, Boston Mobilization youth leaders refuse to sit idle in the face of hateful rhetoric and bigotry. Our teens continue to confront oppression by leading efforts in their schools and home communities. We need your help so that our youth leaders can continue their work fighting bigotry and racism.

Here are some recent accomplishments from our teens!
- This year our teen leaders trained 843 young people through innovative youth-designed workshops! From 5th grade African American and Latino scholars to regional educators of color to student club leaders at top independent schools, our teen leaders are bringing our innovative social justice curriculum to communities in need!
- In response to rising Islamophobia, an interfaith team of our teen leaders coordinated our first ever Combatting Islamophobia teach-in. Our team of Muslim teen facilitators have since been invited to facilitate the teach-in at 4 different events!
- After phone calls, emails, and meetings with local legislators our teen leaders celebrated the passing of sanctuary legislation in both Brookline and Newton at historic town-hall meetings to support undocumented community members.

Please join us for this free, open event on our historic anniversary. We will be honored to celebrate four decades of this critical work with you.
