Join us for the inaugural public event for the Society for Women Engineers (SWE) in Memphis! SWE Memphis just received its section charter from SWE headquarters. It is time to celebrate this new Society of Women Engineers professional section, and what better time than Engineers’ Week?
The Society of Women Engineers is the world’s largest advocate and catalyst for change for women in engineering and technology. To ensure SWE members reach their full potential as engineers and leaders, the Society offers unique opportunities to network, provides professional development and shapes public policy. SWE champions the value of diversity. We inspire young girls to become engineers and support them with scholarships in order to expand the engineering profession’s ability to improve the quality of life for billions of people worldwide.
Mingle with Memphis luminaries, major engineering employers, and SWE members as we launch the local section of our engineering society. Tickets are available on an individual basis or through table sponsorships. Table Sponsorships include the display of company names and logos in all event media.
- 5:30-6:30 p.m., Social Hour/cocktail hour with interactive demonstrations of past SWE Memphis K-12 STEM outreach, collegiate outreach and professional development events
- 6:30-8:30 p.m., plated dinner and speakers
Hear from our Keynote Speaker, former SWE President Colleen Layman, on the topic of SWE’s mission, goals, and progress in key strategic focus areas. Also speaking is Medtronic VP of R&D Tommy Carls on his experience with SWE as a partner in hiring, developing and retaining diverse engineering talent.
Please join us at this charter event as we celebrate the progress made thus far as well as the plethora of events planned for the upcoming year! Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions. More information about SWE Memphis can be found on our website, Facebook, or Instagram.
