About this Event
Join our celebration of our LGBT+ history that is often forgotten, lost and hidden away. Like all history it may not be pretty, but it should never be forgotten.
Prospect members work in industries where our LGBT+ history is being rediscovered and bought back to life. Help to bring alive our forgotten LGBT+ history by taking part in this talk and join in a with history that is often forgotten or hidden away.
Join the event to hear from
- Margaret Watts who will be giving a personal view on the impact of the self-imposed Hollywood morality code, (the Hays code) on the entertainment industry, and its impact on freedom of expression and the representation of members of the LGBT+ community, on and off the screen;
- Bioarchaeologist Tom Booth talking about how looking at aDNA and archaeology sites is creating an open space for new interpretations for LGBT+ history ; and
- Representatives from the National Trust will talk about its 2017 Prejudice and Pride programming, lessons learned, its successes and what comes next.
Following on from the talks there will be the opportunity to ask questions of our guest speakers.
This event is open to everyone - you do not have to be a member of Prospect or Bectu to join the event.
