Houston Celebrates Caribbean American Heritage & Black Music Month on June 1
Pastor Robert Johnson and New World Church invites the public to join a celebration of Black Music and Caribbean American Heritage Month 2013 with a Prayer & Praise Breakfast on Saturday, June 1 at 10:00am in the Villa on Dairy Ashford in collaboration with Caribbean Impact Network and Repairer of the Breach mission group.

The event will feature arts, crafts, music and food representing the Caribbean, Latin American, and African American heritages. Pastors will pray in English, Kreyol, and Spanish, and international artists will perform in honor of Black Music Month. A special feature of the Prayer & Praise Breakfast for 2013 will be the official launch of Bob Marley Coffee and Teas in Houston.

Honorary Master of Ceremonies will be Colin Garvey, grandson of Amy Jacques Garvey and the Hon. Marcus Mosiah Garvey, first national hero of Jamaica and globally recognized Pan Africanist and mentor to leaders of African and Caribbean independence movements of the 1950s and 1960s.
A keynote address will be delivered by US Civil Rights Movement elder Dr. Virgil Wood who will speak on the legacy of his colleague Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 50 years after his “I Have a Dream” speech at the March on Washington and 150 years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Admission for students K-12 will be $10, with $20 per adult before May 18, and $25 per adult after May 18. Seating cannot be guaranteed after May 25. Table sponsorships are available at $200, $300 and $400. For details, please contact Mandisa at 832.495.7986 or email June2013@caribbeanimpact.net.

We are extremely excited to partner with diverse clergy and other community leaders for this event, and we hope that Houstonians will promote and attend this celebration as an effort to support community building.
