The Center for Ethics and Leadership invites students, faculty and staff to hear Kevin Meek (Partner at Baker Botts LLP) discuss conflicts of interest for lawyers.
All lawyers lead complex lives when it comes to their ethical duties. They owe separate obligations to their clients, the courts, their partners and to the public, not to mention the needs of their families and themselves. These duties can and often do conflict. The complex field of intellectual property rights is no different. The technology assets and secrets that are traded in this field greatly exacerbate the problems associated with ethical duties and often strain the regimens used to keep the judicial process functioning in this area.
