Research conducted from 1989-2014 by the Higher Education Research Institute on the ideological leanings of college faculty members reveal that roughly 40 percent of professors were moderate, 40 percent were liberal and 20 percent identified as conservative. By 2014, liberal identifiers jumped to 60 percent, moderates declined to 30 percent and 10 percent remained conservative. Is this representative at St. Edward's University? If so, what are the stakes? Are classrooms becoming echo chambers rather than sounding boards?
Join the Center for Ethics and Leadership for a discussion about liberals on campus. (Nicholas Kristof, New York Times, A Confession of Liberal Intolerance)
