Cedar Valley Cycling for Veterans
Sat, May 20, 2017, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM CDT
The Cedar Valley Leadership Institute Class of 2016-2017 has partnered with the Black Hawk County Veterans Affairs Office to create the first annual Cedar Valley Cycling for Veterans Ride. Participate by riding one of two bicycle routes, or hop on your motorcycle for a longer ride throughout the Cedar Valley --- all in an effort to create awareness for veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
The ride begins at 10:00 at Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 with a brief kick off ceremony. The rides are at your own pace, so feel free to ride as fast or as slow as you'd like!! Also, don't forget to make time for the "Wall that Heals" -- a half size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
All proceeds from the event will be used to assist veterans suffering from PTSD in becoming more physically active. Physical activity has shown to reduce PTSD symptoms and dependence on medications. d
