Event description

Description

Join us for an engaging and informative workshop for social workers given by Tova Jussim, LCSW-C and sponsored by Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital's Partial Hospitalization Program. Participants will earn 3 Category 1 Ethics CEUs.

This complimentary workshop is designed to educate clinicians about best practices in talking to patients or clients about death and dying.

  • Participants will learn about the common barriers to talking about death and how to empower their patients or clients by providing them with honest and accurate information so that they can make informed decisions regarding their end of life care.
  • Ethical issues related to discussing end of life issues with our clients will be explored and participants will learn how to “master the dance” of encouraging hope while preparing for realistic outcomes.
  • In an engaging and interactive format, social workers will be given the skills they need to encourage their patients or clients to leave a legacy – not just an inheritance. Additionally, participants will learn about resources and books that can help them further develop their understanding of this very important topic.

Breakfast will be served beginning at 9:00 am and our speaker will begin promptly at 9:30 am. Parking is limited so please factor in extra time for parking and the shuttle from the lot.

Parking will not be available on Levindale's main campus; however, there will be special event parking in the Levindale employee parking lot on Preakness Way between Belvedere Avenue and Northern Parkway. Please park on the Levindale side of the lot (left side) near the "special event" signs. There will be marked shuttles to and from Levindale beginning at 8:45 am. The shuttle will drop off at the main entrance to Levindale and an employee will direct you to the Multi-Purpose Room where the program will be taking place.

Directions to Parking Lot:

If you are coming from Northern Parkway eastbound, make a right on to Preakness Way (next street after Pimlico Rd.) and a right into the parking lot.

If you are coming Jones Falls Expressway westbound, make a left on to Preakness Way (next street after Greenspring Ave.) and a right into the parking lot.
