COURSE DESCRIPTION

Clients with multiple disorders of emotion regulation including substance use, eating disorders and mood disorders are complex and challenging for therapists to treat. There are very limited evidenced based practices for working with complex dual and tri diagnosis clients. There is research support for using DBT with these clients and research supports using integrated treatment for co-occurring disorders. This workshop will provide attendees techniques for working with these clients and understanding of the challenges in helping these clients.

Cailey Binkley, LPC – Cailey received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lafayette College and her master’s degree in counseling from William & Mary. She has held various positions at mental health and addiction treatment centers with a specific background in working with women, professions, trauma and eating disorders. She has also completed intensive training in DBT through the Linehan Institute. She is especially passionate about dual diagnosis and integrated treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

Alison Makely, LPC, MAC, NCC – Alison first joined the team at MARR in 2003 as a Primary Counselor of Eating Disorders. Her specialty is helping women exchange substances and food for greater freedom and fulfillment in life. She is passionate about helping women find their own unique path to fully recovering from self-defeating behaviors around addiction, disordered eating, and negative body image. She uses a holistic treatment model that helps clients develop their own intuitive wisdom around health and well-being.
