CCWG 2012 October Evening of Reflection
Monday, October 22, 2012 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (EDT)
Love in the Thought of St. Thomas Aquinas
Fr. Matthew Kauth
Since its inception the spiritual and social epicenter of the Charlotte Catholic Women’s Group has been its monthly Reflections. Please join us for our first evening Reflection of the year. Fr. Matthew Kauth will be our guest and speaker. His talk is entitled Love in the Thought of St. Thomas Aquinas.
We will begin with light refreshments and then gather in the CCHS Chapel for the Reflection talk. Fr. Kauth is a priest of the Diocese of Charlotte, ordained in the Jubilee Year of our Lord 2000. Born and raised in Peoria, Illinois, Fr. came by invitation to this Diocese after having completed a BA in Philosophy at the Seminary of St Charles Borromeo in Philadelphia. He was sent for a Masters in Sacred Theology to the Catholic University of America prior to ordination. He subsequently served as a parochial vicar at St Matthew's in Charlotte, pastor of St Francis of Assisi in Franklin, and finally spent the past four years in Rome to pursue a license and a doctorate in Moral Theology at the University of Santa Croce. He is currently the chaplain of Charlotte Catholic High School, Professor at Belmont Abbey College and in residence assisting Fr. Winslow at St Thomas Aquinas parish in Charlotte.
CCWG Reflections - History
Traditionally our Reflection mornings begin with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at 9:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Coffee and refreshments follow at 10:00 in the Activity Center where members gather to greet each other and where much information on the ongoing activities and events of the CCWG is available.
The highlight of the morning, however, is the Reflection talk. We are blessed and privileged to have the support of the priests of the Diocese of Charlotte who offer each month for us a relevant Reflection on our faith and lives. It is through the generous and faithful preaching and teaching of our ministering priests that the CCWG best fulfills its mission “to foster in women a greater desire to know, love and serve Jesus Christ and His Church.” Confessions are also available at this time.
