Event description

Description

***Due to an overwhelming response, the event is now full and we will be issuing tickets based on a lottery of those who have RSVP’d. The lottery will be selected from those who have RSVP’d by September 20 at 1:00 p.m. Those who are selected from the lottery will be notified via a separate email on September 21.

All those who have a ticket through the lottery can attend the event in the Diego Rivera Theatre or overflow areas. Theater seating is first-come-first-served.

Parking is available on Phelan Avenue, but is extremely limited. Attendees are strongly encouraged to take public transportation to the event.

For those who aren’t selected in the lottery, the event will be livestreamed on Facebook here. Senator Sanders is also speaking at a public event hosted by the California Nurses Association and National Nurses United at Yerba Buena Gardens Esplande (on Mission Street, between 3rd and 4th Streets). That program opens at 12:30 p.m. and will begin at 1:00 p.m.

We are sincerely sorry for not being able to accommodate everyone who has RSVP’d to this event.***

San Francisco Supervisor Jane Kim and City College of San Francisco (CCSF) will welcome United States Senator Bernie Sanders to a public celebration of the first semester of tuition-free classes at CCSF. They will be joined by local officials, teachers, staff and students to talk about how the program is opening the doors of opportunity to residents of San Francisco.

This August, CCSF became the first community college in the nation to offer free classes to all residents regardless of age, income or educational status.

Senator Sanders has helped lead the national conversation on making higher education more affordable for all students and last fall endorsed both the effort to make CCSF tuition-free as well as Prop W which provided the revenue to make this program possible.

Doors open at 2:30 p.m. MEDIA/PRESS: Please RSVP to Ivy Lee at ivy.lee@sfgov.org.
