We are excited to announce our second annual California Concussion Institute Symposium on January 25, 2020 in Santa Clara, California. The event will be entitled: A Modern Approach to Concussion: Prevention and Care. The event will be held at Levi’s Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers.
The California Concussion Institute Advisory Board is made up of health care professionals across all disciplines (MD, PT, ATC) and all athletic settings (professional, collegiate, secondary school).
Course Description
This premier event brings together some of the top health care professionals in the country that are involved in concussion management. The symposium will offer a unique educational opportunity for physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and other health care professionals to collaborate. Keynote speakers include concussion experts: Javier Cardenas, MD, Johna Register-Mihalik, PhD, ATC, and team physician/concussion specialist of the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants. Attendees will also have the unique opportunity to hear from a professional athlete on their unique experience.
The course will demonstrate advances in concussion management while emphasizing preventive measures and the evidence that validates those. There will be an emphasis on how education can supplement prevention and an opportunity for hands on sessions. There will be two small group interactive lectures and one lecture with a hands on lab that will teach the audience how to apply these emerging techniques into their clinical practice for concussion care. The hands on lab will have a speaker to attendee ratio of 1:15. This event is eligible for continuing education credits. See accreditation section on official conference website for specific details.
In addition to our continuing education course, California Concussion Institute is hosting a free community based educational effort targeting an audience of student-athletes, coaches, parents, and administrators to promote best practices and current beliefs of concussion incidence, recognition and treatments. This free event will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020. Additional information will be posted on our website soon! This event will not be eligible for continuing education credits.
