Event description

Description

Historic Yellow Springs is hosting a CCHPN Supper Lecture & Armchair Tour on the Village of Sadsburyville c. 1729: Featuring Dick Dague, President Sadsbury Township Historical Society

Sponsor: Chester County Historic Preservation Network

Located on U.S. Business Route 30 about five miles west of Coatesville, the settlement began as early as 1729, but it did not grow until 1794 when the first macadamized road in the country was laid through the settlement. Soon afterwards, Sadsbury Hotel was a welcome stop for turnpike travelers. Sadsbury may have been named for Sudbury in the county of Suffolk, England. The early settlers were a mixture of Friends from England and Scotch-Irish Presbyterians. Images and stories will transport you back in time.

Registration: 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm

A buffet supper and drinks will be provided.

Weather permitting, a guided stroll of Historic Yellow Springs afterward will also be provided.
