About this event

Over the past several years, wildfires have become more prevalent throughout California. More than ever, volunteer help is needed to assist animal owners and emergency responders to save our Central Valley's animals during fire season. In 2022, CCADT responded to the Oak Fire in Mariposa County - the worst in the county's history and the Fork Fire in Madera County. This January, we responded to assist during the Merced floods.

As a responder, you may be eligible to respond throughout the Central Valley. In addition, CCADT is being requested to help counties throughout CA. We responded to the Camp Fire in Paradise, the Lightening Complex Fire in Solano County, and the Caldor Fire in El Dorado county.

This training program is the ONLY recruitment event for new volunteers being offered in our counties of Mariposa, Madera, Fresno, Merced, and Kings. This training will teach you the basic skills needed to respond in the counties that we serve. For new and current volunteers, continuing educational workshops will be offered throughout the year.

There is no charge for the 2023 training! We welcome you to attend to see if this is a good fit for your volunteering aspirations. Minimum age to join: 18 years

During this training, you will meet current volunteers and hear speakers from emergency response agencies. Training topics include, but are not limited to*:

  • Coordination with emergency response agencies
  • Animal Evacuation & Shelter-In-Place Care
  • Wildland Fire Safety For Responders
  • Emergency Animal Sheltering
  • Safe Handling of Small Companion Animals

On Saturday, after the last workshop, there will be a social event where you can meet current volunteers in a casual, fun environment. Food and beverages will be served. It will be held in the same venue as the training.

Registration is required. If your schedule changes and you cannot attend, please cancel as early as possible. Deadline to register: January 27, 2023.

We are excited to meet you! Join us in February at the Madera County Fairgrounds and become a member of Central Valley's leading animal response team dedicated to helping animals during disasters.
