FAQs

Do I need to be a community college student or a transfer student to attend this event?

  • This event is free and open to the public. Anyone can RSVP for our events. You do not need to be a community college student or a community college transfer student or a UCLA student. Furthermore, you do not need to be a CC2PhD Scholar, CCS Scholar, or a travel grant recipient. Everyone is welcome.

Do I need to RSVP before the event? Can I walk in?

  • Attendees should RSVP before the event because there are limited seats available. RSVP’ing is a free and simple process. We may not be able to accommodate walk ins.

How do I check into the event?

  • You have several options. You can present a photo ID, a printed Eventbrite ticket, or an online Eventbrite ticket on your phone.

Where should I park? How much is parking?

  • We recommend parking at either UCLA Parking Structure 4 or UCLA Parking Lot E. According to the UCLA Map, Parking Structure 4’s address is 221 Westwood Plaza, Los Angeles, CA 90095. The parking rate for Parking Structure 4 is $3 per hour or $12 for all day. It’s about a 12-minute walk to Haines Hall.
  • If you are looking for a cheaper option, consider parking at UCLA Parking Lot E (Top Level). The parking rate for Parking Lot E is $2 per hour and $8 for all day. However, UCLA Parking Lot E is about a 30-minute walk to Haines Hall. According to the UCLA Map, Parking Lot E’s address is 833 Tiverton Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90095.
  • Note: Do NOT park in UCLA Parking Structure 5. Parking Structure 5 is the most expensive parking structure: $3 for one hour or $20 for all day.
  • Only cash and credit cards may be used at the pay stations. Pay stations only accept $1, $5, and $10 bills and DO NOT give change in the form of cash or credit. Pay stations accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card and American Express for your convenience. There are no refunds for purchases at campus pay stations.

Is free street parking available?

  • Yes. There is some free street parking available within a one-mile radius of UCLA. However, you need to read the parking signs and colored curbs carefully to confirm that it is legal to park there on Saturdays. Keep in mind that finding legal street parking can take up to 30 minutes. In addition, walking from where you parked in the street to UCLA Haines Hall can take an additional 30-60 minutes.
  • Street parking regulations are strictly enforced. As such, we recommend that our attendees pay for parking at UCLA Parking Structure 4 or Parking Lot E because many people are not familiar with street parking in Los Angeles or correctly reading parking signs and colored curbs. The Community College to PhD Association is NOT liable for any parking tickets you may incur by illegally parking.
  • LA Department of Transportation Street Parking Regulations: http://ladot.lacity.org/what-we-do/parking/can-i-park-there

I parked at Parking Structure 4 or Parking Lot E but I can’t find Haines Hall.

  • Attached is a UCLA campus map. The map has Parking Structure 4, Parking Lot E, and Haines Hall circled in purple. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzMYt40b-5S0Ry1JaFNHYWhtOWc/view?usp=sharing
  • If you have a smartphone, input the Haines Hall address into your phone’s map application. The map application will provide walking directions to Haines Hall. If you do not have a phone, you can ask UCLA students for walking directions to Haines Hall.
