About this event
Chris Hadfield is the vice president of workforce development at Associated Builders and Contractors Greater Baltimore, the largest construction training association in Maryland. He is responsible for development, growth, and quality control of ABC’s educational programs. He previously has held positions in the welding, painting, and electrical trades.
Chris’s passion for workforce development and outreach has led him to several volunteer roles. He is the chair of Baltimore City Schools Career & Technology Education Program Advisory Committee and serves on Morgan State University’s Construction Management and Architectural Board.
Chris also serves on Maryland Department of Labor’s Employer Engagement Committee which focuses on connecting ex-offenders to careers in construction. Chris’s desire to work with the ex-offender community began with his involvement with UnCuffed Ministries, a Christian organization aimed to mentor youth who ended up in adult detention centers. This experience along with his work with ABC has allowed Chris to work more closely with the Maryland prison system to help connect inmates to mentors, housing, and jobs, upon release.
Chris, originally from Marietta, Georgia, and his wife Rose, from Columbus, Mississippi, met here in Baltimore while Rose was working as a nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Chris in the construction industry. They celebrate 13 years of marriage in April and have 2 girls ages 2 and 4.
Chris loves the outdoors. His favorite hobbies include skiing, section hiking the Appalachian trail, and backpacking adventures with his girls on the weekend. Chris loves books on leadership and business and is especially intrigued by those from a Christian perspective. Chris received his business degree from Penn State University.
