Event description

Description

Our event on August 30 will dive into the specifics of why business leaders choose to select or eliminate the Charlotte region when locating their operations. Is it the political environment? Talented workforce? Local government? Good schools? Transportation? Proximity to customers and suppliers? The weather? Recreational opportunities? While these are some of the standard reasons cited in announcements, what’s the one thing that tipped the scale?

Charlotte Business Exchange is delighted to present a panel discussion featuring business people that chose Charlotte, an economic developer, a relocation consultant. Our panel will be moderated by Ronnie Bryant the President and CEO of the Charlotte Regional Partnership. Ronnie leads the economic development organization that promotes the 16-county Charlotte USA region as a premier location for businesses considering expansion or relocation.

Joining Mr. Bryant are panelists:

  • Thomas Howard, Vice President of Government Relations for Domtar, a pulp and paper manufacturer with annual sales of approximately $5.3 billion and 13 mills, 10 off-site paper converting facilities in the United States and Canada. Domtar’s Personal Care Division operates 3 manufacturing facilities in the United States and one each in Sweden and Spain. Working from Domtar’s headquarters in Fort Mill, South Carolina Tom tracks and develops responsive strategies for state, provincial and federal legislative and regulatory actions that have an impact on the pulp and paper industry.

  • Xan Hood, Founder and President, started Buffalo Jackson Trading Co. in 2009, as a men’s clothing and leather goods company that speaks to the rugged American heritage of our past. He moved his family and operation to Charlotte, NC in 2013. Through lean startup methods that have been featured in Entrepreneur.com and CNN Money, he has continued to expand through online channels into national, and worldwide markets.

  • Patric Zimmer, President of Development Advisors which performs site selection consulting, incentive negotiations and industrial brokerage services on behalf of numerous corporate clients which have resulted in approximately $9 billion in investment and the creation of over 7500 jobs. His primary focus involves comprehensive cost analysis between locations and the negotiation of incentive packages with local, state and private agencies.

  • Steven Pearce, Senior Project Manager, Business Development Services for Charlotte Regional Partnership. As Senior Project Manager, Steven seeks to attract new capital and investment through participation in business development missions and works directly with site selection decision makers to represent Charlotte USA as the premier location for business.
