The Causey Family Reunion, was started in honor of my grandmother (Christina Causey-Britton) along with her other siblings Issac, Kenny, Douglas, Dewitt, Henderson, Dock, Annie-Maud, Luvella and Christina Causey the eldest out of 9 children by their mother (Luvella) and father (James Causey).
Christina along with her brothers and sisters were born in Mound Bayou, Mississippi where her mother and father (James and Luvella Causey) worked as sharecroppers. I was told her grandfather (Issac Causey) was a slave that worked on Thomas Jefferson's plantation in Mississippi.
Although, many of our Causey great-grandparents and grandparents have passed on, it is our duty and responsibility to inform one generation to the next of their family history; and that is how the first Causey Reunion in Detroit got started. Many of our children are having families of their own, and it is unfortunate that many of them don't know their family history or where we originated from, let's break this cycle and teach the importance of family.
I hope you will join us in making this a fun and memorable event, that will continue from one generation to the next. I look forward to seeing all the Causey's and extended families from all over the United States in 2017 at our first Causey Family Reunion, starting Thursday August 31, (Meet & Greet Night), Friday September 1, (Dinner Dance), Saturday September 2, (Family Reunion Picnic) and returning home Sunday.
