Cause A Scene + Brite Revolution Present: Jenny & Tyler, Jake Ousley, Young...
Description
Jenny & Tyler are an acoustic folk-pop duo whose live performances strike a rare balance of intimacy and intensity. They share their songs, their stories and their lives with a candor that captivates, inspires and transcends age and cultural divides. Regardless of background, their music hits closest to home for people who are wrestling with faith and searching for answers in an uncertain world.
Acoustic guitar, mandolin and the kick-drum of an old suitcase drive catchy melodies to support thoughtful lyrics as Jenny & Tyler chronicle lives marked daily by love, joy, loss, doubt and redemption. Their blend of driving, percussive folk-pop rings of Mumford & Sons and Nickel Creek, and at times echoes popular male-female duos such as She & Him and fellow Nashville darlings The Civil Wars.
In a crowded industry glutted by banality, Jenny & Tyler stand out as true psalmists. Their music holds a mirror up to nature, culture and all the reckless passions of the human heart and points ultimately toward a Creator. Their songs mark them as modern day contemplatives and troubadours, rooted in age-old wisdom set to new melodies.
Jake Ousley is a singer/songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee. And you are going to love him, if you don’t already. Sure, it’s his voice and songwriting that got you here. Because his songs pull at you like the feeling you get when you pull up to your house from being gone too long, or when you have a good night with great friends. That kind of sentiment in his songwriting is what got him here. But it’s also the talent and the time and the way he glides words up to music and makes them dance together.
A light flashes. A single string resounds, spilling into the darkness its reverberations. From the recently broken silence, two voices emerge, shrouded in mystery and singing in tight harmony. Youthful yet wise, searching yet confident, they blend into one soulful song – the song of Youngest Daughter.
Descendant from a rich tradition of folk duos, Beta Pop and Anna Flautt of Youngest Daughter bring to life a vintage era, one full of whimsy, populated by dreams, and reminiscent of the days when simple songs, sung compellingly, told the stories of life. By re-enforcing the singer/songwriter genre with R&B stylings and a few of the trappings of pop, they have created a modern incarnation of folk that still pays homage to its lineage while adding enough flavor that the kids will like it too. In a pared down iteration, portable enough for raucous house shows and the occasional wine and cheese party, as well as in their full band form, Youngest Daughter completely strips down the lyrics and vocals, letting the music talk for itself. Such a straightforward style leaves nowhere to hide, but Youngest Daughter are happiest out in the open air.
An up and coming singer/songwriter hailing from Dallas, TX, Shaylee Simeone is thrilled to bring her unique style to Nashville’s music scene. From writing songs to leading worship, music has always been one of Shaylee’s central passions. Having consistently been a part of the worship team at her church and the schools she attended, she desires to continue using her voice to lead people in this way while at the same time extending her reach. Shaylee strives to write multiple styles of music and collaborate with fellow musicians and songwriters.
“I love Nashville’s music and songwriting community,” says Shaylee. “Getting to be a part of the creative process of dreaming up new songs has been one of my favorite parts of the journey. I love hearing how others relate with God and see the world and turning it into something that sounds as lovely as possible.”
