Description

The Catholic Art Guild will host its 1st Annual conference titled "Beauty & The Restoration of the Sacred" on October 29, 2017. We will welcome noted philosopher Sir Roger Scruton, Classical Architect Duncan Stroik, Architectural Historian Dr. Denis McNamara, & Catholic Artist Anthony Visco. Biographical information and synopses of their talks can be found here

The conference will begin with the 12:30 High Mass at St. John Cantius Church for the Feast of Christ the King followed by registration and refreshments. Talks will begin in the auditorium at St. John Cantius at 2:00 pm.

The dinner portion of the evening will take place at the Drake hotel with a question & answer session following.

DINNER AT THE DRAKE

Dinner at the Drake hotel will include a three-course Filet Mignon dinner with table-side wine service (salad and dessert included). A question & answer panel discussion will follow dinner for approximately 30 minutes.

If you would like a vegetarian dinner or have any special dietary needs, please email us at info@catholicartguild.org after you purchase your ticket and we will notify the kitchen.

The evening will end at the Drake. Trolleys will not return to St. John Cantius.


DISCOUNTED ROOM RESERVATIONS

A block of rooms for the conference has been secured at a rate of $139 a night. Reservations can be made at this link: https://aws.passkey.com/go/catholicartguildgala or by calling 1 (800) 55- DRAKE to secure a reservation. Please provide the group code: CGU. Rooms must be booked before September 28, 2017 to get this rate.


BUYING TICKETS

Please be vigilant when purchasing tickets to select the correct tickets depending on your status as a Catholic Art Guild member or non-member. We will be verifying ticket purchases for enrolled members. If you would like to enroll as a member, you can do so by completing the form on this page: https://www.catholicartguild.org/membership

Since the event will change venues for dinner, we will provide trolley transportation to the Drake Hotel for those not driving or using mass transport. If you would like to use the trolley service, select that option along with your purchase. We will be using the trolley tickets to gauge the number of trolley's we'll need to provide. Trolleys will not return to St. John Cantius after the event ends.

Tickets are for the full day event, partial priced tickets are not available. Tickets must be purchased by Oct. 19th. Full refund (save Eventbrite fees) will be available through Oct. 19th. No refunds can be given after that time due to food reservations being made with the Drake.

Tickets will not be available at the door or on the day of the event.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Saint John Cantius Church is located at the triple intersection of Chicago, Milwaukee, and Ogden Avenue. The 24-hour CTA “Chicago” Blue Line subway stop is only a block away. Bus 56 on Milwaukee Ave, and Bus 66 on Chicago Ave stop nearby.

There is limited lot and street parking available at St. John Cantius. Valet parking is available on site at the Drake for $70 and self park for $49. Nearby garage parking is also available, check online for rates and options.

Public Transportation

CTA BLUE LINE TRAIN: CHICAGO-BLUE — This CTA subway stop is located one block from the church and the train also comes directly from O’Hare Airport (about a 30 minute ride). Directions on the "L" from St. John Cantius to the Drake Hotel

CTA BLUE LINE TRAIN: CHICAGO-BLUE to BLUE LINE TRAIN: CHICAGO & MICHIGAN from the station walk north on Michigan Ave. to E. Walton Pl and turn right. The Hotel will be on the left. The Hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the L station.

Driving Directions

From the North:

Exit I-94 at the Ogden Ave. exit. Turn left at second traffic light onto Ogden Ave. Take Ogden Ave. to Chicago Ave. (800 N). Turn right (east) onto Chicago Ave. one block to Carpenter St. (1032 W). Turn left (north) onto Carpenter St. The church will be on your right.

From the South:

Exit I-94 at Augusta Boulevard (200 N). Turn left at the stoplight onto Milwaukee Ave. (south). Take Milwaukee Ave. to the intersection of Chicago Ave. and Ogden Ave. Turn left onto Chicago Ave. (800 N) (east). Then turn left onto Ogden Ave. The church will be on your right.

From the West:

Exit I-290 at Paulina St. Turn left onto Paulina St. and go to Ogden Ave. Turn right (north) onto Ogden Ave. to Chicago Ave. (800 N). After you cross Chicago Ave. the church will be on your right.

Trollys will be provided for a small fee to transport guests to the conference to the Drake Hotel for the dinner. If you're like to take the trolley, please be sure to include a ticket so we reserve enough seats/trolleys. Trolleys will not return to St. John Cantius.

You may also drive, use taxi/uber or public transporation to the St. John Cantius and then to the Drake.

What's the refund policy? Last day to buy tickets?

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

We would prefer you please bring your ticket to the event. Should you forget your printed ticket, we will have a list of names which is generated by Eventbrite of those that purchased tickets and the number of tickets purchased. We will use this list at registration, for the trolley and entry to the dinner at the Drake.
