ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

DR. MALLORY NEWELL

Director of Institutional Research for De Anza College and Project Lead for the Multiple Measures Assessment Project (MMAP). A member of the AB705 workgroup, Dr. Newell has lead each phase of MMAP. She previously conducted studies and policy analysis for the California Postsecondary Education Commission (CPEC) in Sacramento.

DR. CRAIG HOWARD

Dean of Institutional Effectiveness at Bakersfield College and MMAP Researcher. Known for developing the Basic Skills Cohort Progress Tracker and the Transfer Velocity Cohort Report, Dr. Hayward has pioneered the use of recursive decision trees in placement decision rules and is currently working to adapt the MMAP decision trees for AB 705 requirements.

TERRENCE WILLETT

Dean of Research, Planning, & Institutional Effectiveness at Cabrillo College and MMAP Researcher. Founding research director for the CalPASS system and led the early analyses of high school to college transitions to guide faculty inquiry. He was an early adopter of applying machine learning to education research and has combined decision tree and GIS analyses in college choice analysis.
