Catch the Buzz this Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28 by joining Pollination Biologist, Victoria MacPhail, of York University on a Thunder Bay Field Naturalist event.

There will be an outing on Saturday, July 28 (rain date July 29) to search for and learn how to survey, identify, and photograph bumble bees. The field trip will begin in Thunder Bay in the morning and end at a rural Murillo property in the afternoon. Meet at Boulevard Lake Park (parking lot just north of Algoma St N off Lyon Blvd W) for 9:30am Saturday. If desired, arrangements can be made to meet for just the afternoon in Murillo. Bring insect field collection nets if available, water, and lunch. Closed toed shoes, long pants, hat, sunscreen, and bug spray recommended. Pre-registration is recommended for this event, using this Eventbrite form.

A talk on bumble bees, including their conservation status, what you can do to help, and the Bumble Bee Watch citizen science program, will be also be held on Friday, July 27 at 7:00pm at St. Pauls’ United Church, 349 Waverley St, in Thunder Bay. No pre-registration required for this event.
