Event Details

  • CAT Roundtable “Discussion: What is the value of backchanneling and what tools can I use to do this?”

In this discussion, participants will explore what it means to backchannel in a classroom as well as how it can be used for formative assessments. PollEverywhere and TodaysMeet may be discussed as potential tools.

CAT Roundtable Shared Norms:

  • We explore: There are no right or wrong answers. Our goal is not to solve a problem, but to explore possibilities and context. We are discovering perspectives different than our own and hoping to learn something new.

  • We value: Everyone’s opinion is part of the conversation (including staff, faculty, students, non-educators, etc.). We speak from different contexts and everyone’s input is valuable to the discussion.

  • We monitor time: We are aware of how much or how little airtime is being consumed by one another. We strive our best to maintain a balance and ensure that everyone is part of the conversation.

CAT Roundtables and Classes are recorded via Panopto for the benefit of those who cannot attend. Look for the recording in the Butler Connection.

This session is facilitated by Heather Hazelwood and Danielle Valenilla.
