How will I access the videos?

Once you have registered and receive your login information, download the “CA STEAM 2020” Mobile App on your mobile device or view the app in your browser.

After you log in to the app, click on Schedule to access video recordings and resources for all 170+ breakout sessions and keynotes.

How will I access the presentation slides and other resources?

Using the “CA STEAM 2020” mobile app, you can play recordings, view presentation slides, and access additional resources. Everything you need is at your fingertips!

How long will I have access to this #CASTEAM20 content?

Keynotes will be available for a limited time. Breakout session recordings and resources are available until June 30, 2021.

Who are the keynote speakers?

Ibtihaj Muhammad, Olympic Medalist, Entrepreneur & New York Times Best-Selling Author headlined a keynote fireside chat at #CASTEAM20. In 2014, Ibtihaj launched her own clothing company, Louella, which aims to bring modest, fashionable and affordable clothing to the United States market. Named to Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential list, Ibtihaj is an important figure in a larger global discussion on equality and the importance of sport.

Phil Hansen, “Artist for the People”, is an internationally-recognized multimedia artist, speaker, author, and innovator at the forefront of bringing art to a wider audience. His artistic journey nearly came to an end when a tremor developed in his drawing hand. In exploring new ways to create art, Phil discovered by embracing his shake, limitations could become the passageway to creativity. Hansen says it best: “We need to first be limited in order to become limitless.”

Heather McGhee, public policy expert, is widely known for her role in advising Starbucks as they designed their anti-bias training for 175,000 employees, along with providing recommendations for how to apply a racial equity lens to their business. Ms. McGhee is a Distinguished Senior Fellow at Demos and has an upcoming book called The Sum Of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone And How We Can Prosper Together (Feb 2021).

Dianna Cowern, aka “Physics Girl”, is the creator and host of the viral “Physics Girl” web series with over 1.7 million subscribers, whose show has featured well-known figures including the legendary Rodney Mullen, Bill Nye, and Anne Wojcicki (founder of 23andMe). Dianna is sought after as a science communication expert as well as an in-demand speaker talking about the future of education and how to better relate to students using various media. In 2019, Dianna was named to the FORBES 30 under 30 list.

Darrion Nguyen, founder of “Lab Shenanigans”, uses his background in biochemistry, theater, and dance to create relatable lab videos along with educational science content under the name “Lab Shenanigans.” He previously worked as a research technician, where he studied a unique human neurodevelopmental disorder in mice. In the fall, he is preparing to enter graduate school to pursue a Ph.D. in neuroscience.
