If you are interested in learning more about CASA for Children of Bergen County or becoming a volunteer you first must register for one of our upcoming sessions that will provide you with all of the information you need about becoming a CASA.
Thank you for considering CASA for Children of Bergen County as a volunteer commitment. Our volunteers advocate for children who have been abused and help them on the path to safe and permanent homes.
In order to become a CASA Volunteer you must:
- attend an Information Session
- have a personal interview
- attend ALL seven training sessions
- attend court observation, a completion interview and swearing-in
I have attached some general information for your review. The first step to becoming a CASA volunteer is to attend an Information Session. These sessions are held on the third Wednesday of every month at 10:00am and 5:30pm (choose one time); they are about an hour. The next sessions will be March 16th. Please RSVP to our office if you would like to attend one of our Information Sessions.
Upcoming Trainings: Spring Evening Training Dates 5:30pm-9PM: April 19th, 26th, May 3rd, 10th, and 17th, 24th and 31st
You must be able to attend all days/nights of training in order to be accepted into the training class. There will be 7 sessions.
In addition, you will need to pass background and fingerprint checks, complete the appropriate applications, and provide four personal (non-family) or professional references. Must be 21 years of age. The standard CASA application and reference forms will be provided to you at an Information Session or you may download them from our website (www.bergencasa.org).
