Event Details

CASA is hosting its second annual Community Awareness Breakfast on March 15, 2018 at the Inn at Reading. Tickets are $25 each and the event is open to the community but advance registration is required as seating is limited. Attendees will enjoy a continental breakfast and the entirety of the program will be no longer than an hour.

WHY COME?

With over 700 children in foster care in Berks County, there is a clear need in Berks for the CASA program and a clear goal for every child in foster care to have a CASA volunteer. This breakfast serves as a call to action – we can meet the need, but we need everyone to help us.

Join us to learn how CASA makes a difference every day in the lives of Berks County’s most vulnerable children and how you can help.

WHAT IS A CASA?

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. The organization trains volunteers to advocate on behalf of the best interest of a child who has suffered abuse and neglect. CASAs are appointed by a judge to specific cases and appear in court testify.

Volunteers work to help insure a safe and permanent home for the child as quickly as possible. They are an extension of the "eyes and ears” of the judge.

CASA is central to fulfilling society's most fundamental obligation by making sure a qualified, compassionate adult will fight for and protect a child's right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect, and to learn and grow in the security of a loving family.

Can't attend the breakfast?? No problem, you can still help!
