Experience an authentic recreation of Lisbon´s popular neighborhood taverns where fado was born and where, to this day, fadistas are made and recognized by their peers. In the heart of the Ironbound section of Newark known as “Little Portugal” we will create a traditional Fado House experience in an intimate setting with live fado music direct from Portugal and with Portuguese food and wine.

Meals will be served dégustation style - the careful, appreciative tasting of various foods, sampling small portions of the chef's signature dishes, under the direction of Lisbon´s famed Fado House “Maria da Mouraria”. Each of the four nights will highlight different fado repertoires and food. Vocalists Helder Moutinho, a leading male fadista who is an acclaimed interpreter with deep roots in the fado house milieu and a successful onstage career in Portugal and abroad; and Teresinha Landeiro, a rising female voice of the new generation of singers and fado house performer, will be joined by Pedro de Castro on Portuguese guitar and André Ramos on viola (classical guitar).

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

All are welcome but this program is not recommended for children under 10. ID will be required to consume and/or purchase alcoholic beverages.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The Sport Clube Portuguese is a 6 minute walk from Newark Penn Station, easily accessible by Path Train or NJ Transit. Parking is available next to Newark Penn Station. Street parking is not guaranteed.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

YES, please bring a copy of your ticket purchase.

If I can't make it for the day I purchased my ticket can I switch to a different day?
