CARRIE, the Musical
Music by Michael Gore
Lyrics by Dean Pitchford
Book by Lawrence D. Cohen
Based on the novel by Stephen King

Carrie: The Musical is an Honors thesis production being performed at the UMass Old Chapel on January 27th. Directed by Erin Hamilton, this show explores the American high school experience which includes themes such as bullying and the pressures high school students face to fit in. Set in the small town of Chamberlain, Maine, Carrie White longs for acceptance from her peers and mercy from her harsh overprotective mother. With the help of a kind classmate, a popular jock, and a nurturing teacher, it seems Carrie may finally have a chance to be embraced by her community -- but a cruel bully has other ideas.

This show contains mature themes such as violence, abuse, sexual content, and mild profanity -- for this reason, it is suggested that audience members are ages 16+.

The cast and crew of Carrie: The Musical will be collecting prom dresses to donate to local high schools. If you or someone who know would like to donate a prom dress, you may either give it to anyone who is part of the Carrie cast and crew, or you can bring it to the performance you attend. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

CARRIE the musical is presented through special arrangement with R & H Theatricals: www.rnh.com
