Carousel Rogues is husband and wife Zach and Caitlin Anselmo, and friend Daniel Wiley. A trio of friends that formed in high school in Frederick, Maryland, Carousel Rogues named themselves after the established underworld presence in the fantasy novel Parabolis. But their sophomore album shows a metamorphosis in the rock-pop band’s sound, proving that Carousel Rogues have both feet planted on the ground--most of the time.
The band’s self-titled first album debuted in 2011. It was produced by Ben Shive (Colony House, Melanie Penn, Andrew Peterson) and recorded at Zach’s and Caitlin’s home in Brunswick, Maryland. The whimsical-yet-punchy first single, “Clementine” was the number one played song on Baltimore’s 89.7 WTMD for ten weeks, securing the trio a local fanbase. This time around, the first single “Better Than I Do” off of Carousel Rogues’ follow up carries more edge and weight than anything heard from the three-piece yet. The band recorded the album in Nashville, Tennessee in 2012 and 2013 as they worked toward setting down permanent roots there. As fresh transplants to Music City, Carousel Rogues will release their second full-length album, Seize the Day in early 2015.
