Event description

Description

This is the twelfth annual Women’s Health Research Forum coordinated by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. The forum is designed to foster a networking atmosphere among faculty, students, and local health and social science professionals interested in any aspect of women’s healthcare. There are no attendance or registration fees. The theme of this year's event is Violence Against Women. Our keynote speaker is Heather Weiss, JD, manager for the SC Attorney General's Office and our panel moderator is Lynn Rosenthal, consultant and Biden Foundation Policy Director of Violence Against Women!

Health and social science professionals, faculty, and students are invited to submit abstracts for the forum. Abstracts are published and available for attendees at the Forum and are presented in poster format at the Forum poster session. A multidisciplinary Scientific Committee will choose award winners based on pre-Forum judging. Awards will be provided in the categories of basic, social and clinical sciences along with an award for best student poster. Award winners will provide a brief oral presentation of their projects during the afternoon session. In addition, select OBGYN residents will provide oral presentations of their resident research projects.

More information about the schedule of events, our keynote and panel speakers, and parking information can be found on our website: event.sc.edu/whrf
