Carolina Story with Taylor Corum
Sat, May 6, 2017, 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM EDT
It’s rare you find a married music duo that adheres to none of the married-duo-cliches. Carolina Story writes and performs songs, knowing that there are enough love songs on earth. They evoke the blue collar man and woman, because that’s exactly who they are. From their genesis, they have crafted their sound to be a perfect mix of the lyrical grit and wit of Hank Williams Sr. and the tender atmosphere of Heartbreaker-era Ryan Adams.
Carolina Story (Ben and Emily Roberts) are from Arkansas and South Dakota respectively, meeting and falling in love in Memphis, Tennessee, setting up shop in East Nashville and making a name for them selves in every state in between.
Since 2009, Carolina Story has been hard at work touring, writing and putting out music they believe in; each release astonishingly better than the last. Starting as starry-eyed newly-weds ready for the road ahead with their self-titled debut evolving into wise road-worn troubadours on their album, “Home”, with the ability to turn an insightful phrase at a moment’s notice.
Carolina Story’s potential is in their numbers. They’ve played in excess of 650 shows in 43 states since 2009 and debuted “Home” at #2 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart in November of 2011.
11.18.13 saw the release of “Chapter One”, their new EP consisting of 6 songs produced by Grammy-winning producer, Blake Chancey (Dixie Chicks) & involved the talents of many greats including Dan Dougmore (Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor), Chad Cromwell (Joe Walsh, Neil Young, CSN&Y), Darrell Scott (Robert Plant & The Band of Joy, Hayes Carll, Steve Earle), Michael Rhodes (Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris) & others. It debuted at #6 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts and climbed to #7 on the Americana Radio Chart.
Ben and Emily released their EP titled “Chapter Two” on June 24th,2014 as well as their Grand Ole Opry debut on June 28th,2014.”Chapter Two” made it to #13 on the American Radio Chart and the two EP’s were both in the Americana Radio Top 100 Albums list.
The future for Carolina Story is limitless. They’re a small fish in a big sea of similar Americana duos but the sincerity and humanity of their music makes them stand out among even the best.
