About this event

Bird Woman is a multimedia performance by Carla Forte that fuses dance, film, original music and sound installation. The piece explores the human condition and translates their stories into movement, creating a new language to express these women’s thoughts, desires, emotions and hopes.

ABOUT CARLA FORTE

Forte, born and raised in Caracas – Venezuela, is an interdisciplinary artist incorporating dance, film and performance through different media, focusing on the emotions as a starting point. She is the co-founder and film director of Bistoury Physical Theatre and Film. Her feature films and experimental pieces have been screened at prominent film festivals and galleries such as: ​”76 Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Salerno” Italy (2022); “The University Galleries of Florida Atlantic University” Boca Raton-Florida (2021); “CICA Museum” Gyeonggi-do- South Korea (2021); “16 SANFIC Santiago Festival Internacional de Cine Chile” (2021); “62 Rochester International Film Festival’’ (2020); “37 Miami Film Festival” Miami- Florida (2020); “OGA VideoArt Exhibitions” Roma, Italy (2018); “41st Atlanta Film Festival’’ Atlanta- Georgia (2017); “Cube Art Project” Lincoln- Nebraska (2017); “Les Instants Video” Marseille- France (2014), among others. Her works have been acquired by Gravitas Adventures, South Florida PBS and Troma Entertainment. Forte has won commissions, awards and artistic residencies from prestigious programs such as: PAM CUT’s Sustainability Labs -Portland (2022); South Florida Cultural Consortium Artist Acquisition Program Miami-Dade Art in Public Places (2020-2021). South Florida Cultural Consortium (2021); Dance Miami Choreographers (2020); Knight Arts Challenge Florida (2019); En Residencia Koubek Center -Miami (2019) and Berlinale Talent- Berlin (2017).

Still and video photography is NOT allowed. We recommend that you enjoy living in the moment—witness the art as it unfolds—not through your camera screen! 

May I bring a friend?

Absolutely—but buy tickets in advance! Purchase your tickets online because we cannot guarantee that tickets will be available at the door!

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, you do not have to print your ticket just have your ID with you at Will Call.

What is the refund policy?

No refunds. Late seating is at the discretion of management.
